Welcome to the official website for the One and
Only WPHS Class of 1965.
Update February 8, 2012
I received word today that we have sadly lost another classmate. Barbara
Burgess Haslett Vandre passed away January 30, 2012 at Ozarks Medical
Center. She has been added to the memorial page.
Update February 2, 2012
This is to let you know that we have a new name for our website. Beginning the
first of the year the only way to get to our site will be to enter
ZizzerClass65.com. Until that time, you can reach us at either the new or the old
web address. This has been quite a battle of will between me and the webhost
companies but in the end, we carry on. Please be sure to change your bookmarks
to read to the new name before January 1, 2013.
Update January 17, 2012
Another year has turned. We haven't had any major happenings with our class,
or at least none reported to me. We still try to enjoy dinners monthly at Ziggie's
and look forward to visits from all our classmates, both local and from out of
town. Tonight was supposed to be our meeting for January but we had too many
that couldn't make it. So, I greet you from the computer. Hope all are having a
good new year.
Update August 20, 2011
It's been awhile since I worked on the website because my senility kicked in. The
software company updated my web program and it took me a while to get brave
enough to figure out how to use it. That's tough to admit for a person who
earned their living with computers.
Members of the Class of '65 have met the last few months at Ziggie's for dinner
and good times. So far the crowd is small but growing. We have been meeting
the third Tuesday of the month (senior citizen day). This month we met earlier in
the month to accomodate Linda 'Sue' Croney Aten who was here from Virginia
Beach. If any of you out-of-town classmates are planning a visit, let us know so
we can plan accordingly. For those who live here in West Plains, come join us.
After all, we have lots in common.
Update January 1, 2011
It's the beginning of a new year and we just finished a time of celebration of the
holidays. I was especially blessed with a visit with Jennifer Zaiser Lange. She
was unable to attend our reunion but we had a good time catching up on
classmates and families. In our talking I realized that there are some of you who
don't recognize the classmates in the pictures of the reunions. Consequently, I
am in the process of adding the names to the pictures so you can recognize your
friends. It will probably take me a bit of time so please be patient and Happy
New Year!
Update October 20, 2010
I have uploaded some pictures from the most recent reunion. I apologize for the
quality of the pictures but I wanted to get some pictures out there to share with
those who could not make it to our 45th reunion. I will be working on getting
more and better pictures as I can find them.
In the meantime, the portraits are back and we are in the process of
coordinating the distribution of them. If you ordered a portrait, you should have
your copy soon. For now, click on the Gallery button to the left and click on the
parade picture to see some of the fun you might have missed out on at this year's
reunion. Then, plan on attending the next reunion and be a part of our good
time.
Update October 6, 2010
Just received this comment from Wayne Calhoun and felt it deserved a place on
the front page:
Had a great time Friday and Saturday. Enjoyed meeting and greeting all the classmates. Just
wanted to give a special thank you to Danny James for doing a great job of keeping everything
going in spite of all the interruptions (Fire Drills yet! I thought we were through with them when
we got out of school). Five years will go pretty fast. Hope to see everyone and more back here for
the fiftieth.
Update October 4, 2010
For those of you who attended our 45th reunion this weekend, Thank You. I feel
we had a wonderful time due to the people who showed up because it was so
great to get together with old friends and catch up on old times. For those that
were unable to join in, you missed out on the excitement. We had a good turnout
at the parade on Friday. We didn't win a prize with our float but got lots of
attention because of the "old folks". They were jealous that we were having so
much fun. Friday night we cheered our Zizzer team to the first touchdown of the
game even though the lead didn't hold for long. It was a good game and although
my muscles are still complaining about the bleachers (not like my recliner) I am
glad we had such a group show up to cheer on our team. On Saturday, we had
just started arriving at the cafeteria when we were joined by the fire
department dressed out in their HazMat suits. We were promptly asked to
evacuate the building due to a gas leak but that didn't deter us. The
conversations just moved to the outside of the building and we visited until the
signal to come back in. The rest of the evening was filled with talking and
laughter and good food. You would have thought it was like when we ate in the
cafeteria (the noise) but the food was much better. We are already anticipating
our next reunion. I have been asked to share addresses/email addresses. Because
of privacy concerns, I will not post them on the website but will be glad to share
them with others when I get your permission. Just contact me with who you are
looking for and I will take care of the rest. If you already know that you don't
care if I share your information, go on and send me a message with the
permission. This will speed up the process. I hope to keep communication open
among our classmates. After all, we ARE the Class of '65.
NEWS. . . .
